Senior Associate

Olive, a senior associate solicitor, joined Burgess Mee in June 2022. Prior to joining the firm, she worked at the International Family Law Group, a boutique international family law practice.

Olive qualified as a solicitor in March 2015 with her practice focusing on all matters family law including divorce and financial matters, private children law matters, cohabitation and separation agreements, pre and post nuptial agreements and cases involving domestic violence.

Olive has dealt with a mixture of low to high net worth financial matters and has gained well rounded experience. She has advised numerous clients seeking to protect their pensions on divorce, specifically public sector schemes which have significantly reformed over the last few years.

She has also dealt with a wide range of children matters to include internal and external relocation cases in jurisdictions including Cyprus, Kenya and Australia.

Olive is passionate about family law. She is committed and motivated to achieve the best possible outcome, priding herself on working with clients in a compassionate and sensitive manner. She is a member of Resolution and is keen on the resolution of family matters in a non-confrontational manner.

Olive was named as a “Key Lawyer” in the 2021 Legal 500 rankings. It was noted “Olive Gathoni has the respect of her clients and a good steer on how to get the right result for them”.

Olive has also appeared on Sky News commenting on family law matters, written articles for Lexis Family Law and presented webinars for Thought 4 Leaders and the police federation.

Olive is a Swahili speaker. Outside of work she is a keen baker and runner.
